Card #57: Sticker Time

As a kid I collected the Panini sticker albums for various sports.

Topps brought back the sticker concept and even used some legends for their set.

2013 Topps Sticker #212

  1. Have you ever seen the set of Clemente stickers issued by a grocery store in the Pittsburgh area? One for each Topps card, I believe. I got a '72 with a small purchase of "traveling through" type groceries some 6-7 years ago, I was blown away. It was one sticker-per-week I think, so that was all I could get at the store right then.

  2. I thought I heard that back in the 80's, Panini actually made the stickers for the Topps sticker albums. Anyways... those were the ones I grew up collecting.

    1. Yes, the 80s ones I think might even sometimes have the word Panini on the packaging, and I believe some 'Made in Italy' notations, too.

Also Topps returned to them in about 2016, when the backing piece became noticeably thinner, and they once again say 'Printed in Italy'. Collation in the large packs of 50 stickers has absolutely plummeted, with 5-10 duplicates inside each pack.
